Week 2_Wednesday

Good Morning Girls

Read Luke 2:21-35  Soap Luke 2:30-32

The fact that Joseph and Mary brought a sacrifice of birds rather than a lamb revealed their poverty.  The poor were allowed by law to bring turtledoves instead of the standard lamb.  Once again, we see how God is using the lowly people of society for His purposes.  How fitting that Simeon and Anna should acknowledge Jesus as Messiah in the middle of sacrifice.  For Jesus had come to abolish the need for sacrifice!  I wonder if this thought had occurred to Joseph and Mary.

Our SOAP verses remind me of the Great Commission to reach ALL nations.  Salvation is for the Jew and the Gentile, and must be shared with both the Jew and the Gentile.  Father, make us your ambassadors, willing to reach ALL people groups with your love.  Give me compassion for all humanity, seeing people through your eyes of love.

  1. It just really struck me that if God hadn't of sent his son then there would be NO SUN(light) in this world. He was sent for ALL to have salvation. Father please help me share the LIGHT with everyone.

  2. Good Morning Girls

Well that was strange, I posted my thoughts early this morning and when I went back to read others post it was gone….lol….so here goes again!!
I pray I would have a revelation like Simeon, he not only seen Jesus as the consolation for the Jews but the entire world. I became one of the grafted in the bible speaks of when Jesus came to set all captives free. I love the verse that said “in the presence of all people a light for revelation” how I desire for those revelations to come more clear in my life. So that it would bring me closer to Him in a way I have not known before. We all do have a responsibility to share the gospel with everyone. To reach out to a lost and dying world in a desperate need of a Savior and tell them of His great love. I pray I would not pass up any opportunities that He puts in my path.

    Be blessed

  3. I have heard it preached so many times that had the Jews not rejected Jesus as the Christ, we as Gentiles would not have had the opportunity for salvation. How untrue! Today's reading says His salvation was prepared in the presence of all peoples and a light of revelation to the Gentiles. God intended salvation to all who called upon the name of The Lord. He created us and loved us enough to provide a way of salvation for all, all means ALL! PTL

  4. The words that Jesus was sent for everyone...Jews and Gentiles really jumped off the page for me. I need to remember that everyone needs to hear his word and that it isn't reserved for my small corner of the world!
