Anything Study - Week 6 Friday

Read Luke 14:15-24

SOAP Luke 14:16, 22-23

Jesus' point in this parable was that Jews and Gentiles alike were welcome in God's kingdom.  Destroying the belief that only Jews would be in heaven, Jesus words were very confrontational.  Just as the man giving the banquet did, we must also share the gospel with those who will receive it.  The man deliberately sought the poor and infirmed because they were more receptive to the invitation.  Some people will not "need" Jesus.  We must move on to the ones who recognize their need, sharing Christ with those who will receive Him.

  1. I was wanting to dig a bit deeper and was reading a few commentaries about these verses. I thought they really helped me understand them better. These verses describe even us today. God is calling to wanting a relationship with Him. Yet, so many times we are busy. Not with bad things, but with the blessings He has given. In the parable it is a field to tend, oxen, and a wife. My excuses could be my kids, my home, my job... All things that are good and blessings, yet can get in the way of our relationship with God.

I just pray God will help me put away the busyness of life and nurture my relationship with Him.

  2. Good Morning Girls

John MacArthur said it the best for me, “God is more willing to save sinners than sinners are to be saved”. Man loves his darkness more than he loves the light that can flood his soul. It was true the Jews rejected the Light that was sent to them and that light was then turned to the Gentiles. A lot of people question “what does God want me to do for Him?” but maybe the question really should be, “what am I willing to do for Him”. If Jesus is compelling us to go out and win the lost, surley we as Christians should be first in line shouting, “send me I will go” NOT “well as soon as I get this project out of the way then maybe I can go”. It’s so easy to get caught up in this temporal life and miss God’s timing. I need to remember this world is not my home and it’s just a vapor down here and then gone. Wouldn't it be better to place all of our treasure in heaven where it will be eternal and we can be shinning jewels to the Almighty? To hear well done thou good and faithful servant enter into the joy of Lord!!!
