Week 6_Monday

Good Morning Girls

Read Luke 6:1-11  SOAP Luke 6:9-10

By healing this man, Jesus was insisting that peoples' needs were more important than law-keeping.  Jesus deliberately showed contempt for the Pharisees' regulations.  This is both a lesson for the church and the individual believer.  Our church is not a club of perfect law-keepers, congregating to compare levels of commitment.  Our church, rather, should be a place where we help people.  It's so sad when people who have made mistakes leave the church.  They clearly believe that they can't return because they "broke the rules."  If believers had more of a compassionate spirit to truly help people, we would pursue these broken, hurting people.  Salvation/Restoration is what the world must find in the church - not rules and procedures.

Individually, I am often tempted to compare my choices with those around me.  It's easy to stand back and judge, but not so easy to intentionally approach a struggling person to help them.  Father, help me set aside my pride so that I can meet the needs of others.  Help me to stop putting a show, and strive to minister to the needy.

  1. Good Morning Girls
Jesus showed the religious of that day that He followed the Law of Moses by asking them if it was lawful to do good on the Sabbath. What a mind Jesus had, they were waiting for an occasion to trap Him, but He in turned showed their own deceit, for to know to do good and to do it not was an evil act to all Jews. Surely if their hearts had been right with God they would have recognized Him as the Savior and if they truly loved God wouldn’t they have wanted to see someone set free and healed. These men only had evil in their minds and their jealousy turn their hearts dark and they could not see. But a simple man with a withered hand had a clear vision of who Jesus was and it’s one of my favorite parts of the bible. I always believed Jesus knew that man would be in there in their midst that day. Even though people with any type of disease of deformity were never allow inside those elite walls but the man made it in there somehow. When Jesus asked him to stretch out his hand he extended the crippled one. I find this an interesting fact for most would never want to show that side of themselves, you know the damage side, especially in an elite group of people who on the outside strove for perfection. But this man knew this was his chance and he was not going to let it pass by. Sometimes you have to be willing to risk showing the crippled part of yourself, so that His kingdom can be glorified and isn’t that exactly why Jesus did everything? So that He could always give glory back to the Father. May I be as wise as this crippled man with his withered hand that when Jesus presents an opportunity for me I would reach out and trust His healing for my life and give glory to the Kingdom of God.
