Read Galatians 5:1-6
SOAP Galatians 5:1
Keeping the Mosaic law certainly was a yoke of slavery. There were so many rules and procedures, as well as the additional laws the Jews included themselves. But salvation is all about the work of Christ, not man's. I'm so relieved, because I could never keep up with all the rules. I constantly make mistakes, so I'm glad that salvation does not depend on me. Sinners can never achieve righteousness on their own - only through the finished work of Christ on the cross. Let's believe this in our hearts and live in victory that following Christ is not about keeping a set of rules. It's about completely trusting the only one who is perfectly holy - Jesus Christ.

ReplyDeleteIt’s always exciting to see the scriptures that speak of our freedom with Jesus Christ. I know that I cannot serve the law and serve my Savior at the same time and the only acceptable relationship to the Lord is a repented one. Our sin has been broken and we are made free and once it is done then I am to stay free and that means I cannot return to my old desires. I must make it a one-way Street; make sure there are no U turns in my life and stay on a straight path to heaven. It is possible to live successful, if we desire it, and I think for all of us that’s the great question. Do we desire it enough to give up what we want in our lives and do the things Christ wants for us? For me, I pray the answer would always be yes and that I would remember that greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.
Susie, you're right - it's all about our desire. Do we want it bad enough? Good thoughts
DeleteBrandy, You're so right that legalism is a very real temptation for us. Good thoughts
