Read Mark 2:13-17
SOAP Mark 2:17
Jesus was defined by intentionality. Everything he did had a purpose - things like eating with tax collectors and their friends. Jesus did this specifically to reach Matthew (Levi) and his friends. I wonder if Jesus went into these social situations planning exactly what to say to spark a spiritual conversation. I pray that the Holy Spirit will guide me with words to speak to unsaved people. I am also asking for courage to start spiritual conversations so that I can reach these people with the gospel.
Ladies, I'm so excited about this new study! I am making a few more manuals today for ladies who need them. (It makes it so much easier to do this study when you have the whole study guide printed and ready to go.) Please don't hesitate to ask if you want me to make you a manual that includes: 1) the study guide 2) reading plan 3) prayer journal.
I love in these verses Jesus once again says, "Follow Me." What do they do? Make excuses or think about it? They rose and followed Him. In verse 15: "for there were many, and they followed him." Why was Jesus eating with these sinners? Because they recognized their need for Jesus and they followed. So many times, we gloss over our own sins and don't realize OUR NEED. So, we make excuses and do not follow. Lord, let me get out of my own way and follow where You lead me.

ReplyDeleteIf I believe that I’m not sick with sin then I am in trouble. We all are sinners in need of a Savior. I think Paul said it the best when he said that we are to die daily. I must die to self on a daily basis to greed, evil thoughts, lusts of the flesh, all the things that would take me from Jesus. I am not saying that I am giving in to these things but the world we live in places them in front of me on a daily basis and hence the fight to stay holy in an unholy world. Jesus is sending us forth as His army to save those who are sick and in need of Him and how can I call myself “Christian” if I look the other way or if I would rather read a book or shop or anything else when He calls me to work. We each have our job for Christ to do, He doesn’t just call us out of darkness to let us sit on the shelf and collect dust, but sometimes we place ourselves there by our own reluctance to step out. I pray I can work greater for Him than I ever have and I am trusting in His guidance to show me the way.
