Anything Study - Week 2 Tuesday

Read Deuteronomy 6:1-9

SOAP Deuteronomy 6:5

Verse 5, in context of the passage refers to letting Christ pervade every aspect of life.  Loving the Lord your God completely looks like this: talking about His Word at all times and even keeping it visible in your home.  I am so thankful for the spiritual conversations my parents constantly had with me or in front of me.  Our christianity was not limited to church services.  I never had suspicions that my parents were hypocrites because Christ controlled their lives.  I hope I can repeat history!

That was a very thought provoking scripture today. Loving God with all the love I have, loving God with all I could possibly feel, loving God with all the power that I am capable of. Letting nothing come before Him and finally loving God more than my sin and when I say sin, I mean knowing to do right and not doing it. Isn’t that something we all struggle with? Do I really give God a total commitment in my life? Probably the answer for most of us would be NO. I can relate to what Jennie Allen said in her book Anything, “Love is jealous…..especially God’s love. He wants me, and I want everybody else”. How could someone write a chapter that felt like she was looking into my life and talking about me? I do want it all, a great ministry, a great husband, a great home and friends to share my life with. But more than that I want to make serving God first, to make a total commitment that I would serve him passionately with all that I am. That again is my pressing forward to the high calling of God, to listen to His Word and obey them and lastly, live them boldly as He would have me to do.

  2. Those are wonderful verses for me as a parent. Just a reminder that God wants to be a part of everything in our lives. When we leave the church building, He is with us waiting for us to acknowledge Him throughout the week in our normal lives. God's majesty is shown with every flower that blooms. It is my job to have my children see the miracles around us everyday.

  3. I DO WANT God to always come first in my life. This is a daily struggle for me as I get bogged down with wordly things. We let them invade our lives without even knowing it. That's why it is so important to surround myself with Godly women to help me with this struggle. Praise the Lord that I have this in my life. Such a blessing

  4. Great thoughts, ladies. When our church fills up with completely commited followers of Christ, we can't help but infect others with His love!
