Good Morning Girls
Read Luke 4:38-44 SOAP Luke 4:42-43
We often see Jesus remove himself from the crowds to pray in a quiet place. Mark 1:35 describes this same event, confirming that Jesus was indeed praying, "And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed."
I think this is a lost art in Christian circles. After all, most people have to work every day, getting home just in time to eat dinner, clean the house, and balance the checkbook, etc. (Not to mention caring for toddlers!) But Jesus placed his conversations with God in high priority.
Jesus' task was a big one, "to preach the good news of the kingdom of God to other towns as well." He needed to stay in constant communication with God regarding this purpose. I realized that we have the very same task of preaching the good news to ALL towns. We would do well to purposely seek God's face about this, staying in communion with Him about everything we do. Father, help me make the time to remove myself from people and distractions, so that I can talk with you.

Day 5
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Girls
I loved our reading today and how Jesus healed Peter’s mother-in law and then how she immediately began to serve. We could turn that into our own life application. Jesus healed all of us from the disease of sin and once we receive that forgiveness we then need to begin to serve by pointing others to Him. I think this all goes right along with our disciples making disciples that Pastor Ben has preaching and teaching us. It’s not just about me, there is a whole world out there dying daily and going to hell, I ask myself why would I not want to help? Where would I be if someone had not helped me?
Our soap scriptures spoke on Jesus departing to a desert place, even though it did not say, to me it spoke of finding some alone time to seek God’s peace free of distractions that might come. I love how the ESV version put verse 43, “but he said to them, I must preach the Good News of the kingdom of God to other towns as well, for I was sent for this purpose” Are we not to set Jesus as our example for our lives? Are we not also supposed to go and make disciples by teaching others His way? I am ready to do what God has called me to do and pray for more opportunities to come my way so that I can glorify Him.
Have a good week-end Ladies
These scriptures spoke to me that I need to leave the familiar and go to other towns and tell the good news. Not go to other towns literally but get out of my comfort zone. Be bold and not question when God is leading me in a direction to help others. Like Susie said disciples making disciples. It is amazing how this study is going right along with what Bro Ben has been led to preach. I think Ladies, the Lord is trying to tell us something!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLisa,
DeleteLike you I was struck by the encouragement to get out of my comfort zone. Jesus did not just stay put even though people were coming to him. He fulfilled his purpose by continuing to expand to others.
Lord - please help me expand my circle of influence for your glory!
some days are harder than others, of course, but setting time just for prayer time is hard. Many times, the time I make is after the kids go to sleep. There are nights when that is a great time, but several where by then I am wiped out. Then my prayer time is not the same.
ReplyDeleteMy kids are not in everything. (made sure of that!) but, it still feels like I am busy and tired. I pray that God will help me to set that time apart to be alone with Him.
