Week 7_Tuesday

Good Morning Girls

Read Luke 7:11-17  SOAP Luke 7:13-15

No one was too far gone for Jesus.  I was amused by the verse describing the pall-bearers standing still as Jesus approached them.  It was a pollution for anyone to touch a bier carrying a dead body.  So you can imagine their initial reaction when Jesus walks up to it and touches it!  I was also struck by the specific mention of Jesus' compassion.  He performed miracles, not only to show God's glory, but because He loved the people.

Death was not powerful enough to keep Christ from healing this man.  Think of the spiritual indications here.  Romans 5:17 says, "For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ."  Christ is still raising the dead today!  Satan thought he was cunning by causing the sinful fall of man, but Jesus has power to overcome death by sin!  Hallelujah!

Compassion is the word found today in our soap. How the Lord looked upon that woman and saw her grief and how tender his love was to her. It’s so hard to lose someone close to you, I know the experience of my mother’s death and being by her side was a horrific thing and I could not imagine the pain of losing a child, your only son. She was a widow, she had no one to care for her and to share her love with and Jesus saw this need. There is a song that says, “I will rise when He calls my name, no more sorrow, no more pain, I shall rise”. Jesus has power over all things He spoke to the death in that man and he arose. He spoke to the sorrow in that woman and she was restored and He has spoken my dead life with glorious light and His never ending love and I am commission to go to others and share the gospel.

  3. The scripture says that Jesus heart overflowed with compassion for the widow. It made me realize that his heart really does hurt for us. He doesn't deliberately want our hearts to have sorrow. Although, trials and sorrow will come our way, we can have peace in knowing that if we'll just turn to him he'll be right there saying, "Don't cry". How awesome is that!!!!

  4. The compassion that He had that day is the same that He holds today for you and I. It is a great comfort knowing that He truly is there and cares as I go through the ups and downs this life throws at me. What a glorious God!
