Week 8_Friday

Good Morning Girls

Read Luke 8:40-56  SOAP  Luke 8:48, 50, 54

"Do not fear, only believe."  Faith replaces fear.  The two people represented in this passage were distinct from others because of their great faith.  The woman knew that simply touching Jesus would give healing, but she was afraid to be seen.  Jairus was afraid that healing was too late.  In both cases, Jesus still healed, reminding them to "go in peace" and "do not fear".

It's easy to live in fear, imagining all the horrible possibilities of pain and heartache.  (That's why I very rarely watch the news.  It usually just scares me.)  But Jesus wants us to believe in Him rather than fear.  Let's pray when we are afraid, believing that He will carry us through any situation.  He can even carry us through advanced cancer or the death of a child.  Let us pray for faith for those in our midst specifically experiencing this.

  1. Good Morning Girls

Eight weeks has really went by quickly and I have enjoyed every second of our Luke study. But maybe today speaks more to us just because of the human compassion that Jesus had towards those two believers. They knew by reaching out to Jesus in the midst of their turmoil that they would be freed from their anguish. One a man who had a daughter of twelve years ready to die, and the other, a woman who had been dying for twelve years, something to think about isn’t it? Haven’t we all been in storm at one time or another where the waves are crashing over our lives and we feel like we are going to drown but there is Jesus right in the midst of our disaster.

You know, many people touched Jesus that day but only two had the faith to believe who he was. Jesus called the woman out of the crowd so that God would receive the glory. I believe He was waiting for her faith to become real to her and in the moment it did she received her healing. That is everything He is saying today in our soap scriptures that nothing is too great for Him and by our faith we are made whole. Many were healed in the bible but only those who had the faith to believe that He was Jesus, the Son of the living God, were saved from their sins. Again I say, when every circumstance is against us that is when He becomes real to us and that is when our faith is activated to its greatest potential.

Luke 18:8, the Lord asked that when He returns will He find faith on the earth, I hope so. I pray He will find it in His church who asks of Him daily for their needs. I hope we realize the price that was paid for our faith that Jesus Christ died on a bloody cross for you and for me. He paid the debt that we owed and set us free from the punishment that we rightly deserved. Only our Lord Jesus could love us beyond what we deserved even in rejection His love continued. I pray I can give Him back that love with my life as his servant and be like Paul a prisoner of Jesus Christ and live in the faith that when I see Him I shall be like Him…..at last!!
