It's good to be reminded of the consequences of unrepentance. This life will ultimately end beginning an eternal life elsewhere. This story must cause us to reach the lost now, knowing what awaits them if we don't. John MacArthur says, "The lost will suffer an accusing conscience fed by undying memories of a lost opportunity and permanent irreversible separation from God and everything good." Father, help me do everything I can to prevent people from this suffering.

ReplyDeleteHere we are on our last 2 days of our 8 week study. It really did seem to go fast for me and I loved every moment of studying God’s great word with everyone. Our soap today made me think on the fact that the rich man had some type of religious upbringing. He knew who Abraham was and he knew enough of the scriptures to know Lazarus was living in an eternal state of peace. The saddest part to me, is the fact that the rich man had his chance and missed it. To think he is at this very moment living his mistake and much like the prodigal son he wasted it with the exception he never had a humble moment in his life until it was too late. I pray that all of us who sit under God’s teaching would not squander our time and that we would strive to do greater for the Lord and to have mercy on the lost and show them the way to His kingdom.
