Good Morning Girls
Read Luke 7:36-43 SOAP Luke 7:41-43
What courage this woman, who was likely a prostitute, had to enter this Pharisee's home. When I get to heaven, I will find out what exactly was going through her mind. Did she go seeking forgiveness or with gratitude because she had been forgiven? Sadly, the Pharisee was so blinded by his attempts to trap Jesus, he didn't see the significance of this woman's presence. She was showing Christ a great amount of love.
I can't imagine the amount of guilt this woman lived with. Yet Christ willingly forgave, which is the point of this passage. His grace and love is unconditional, available to everyone who will receive. Father, help me love you with her kind of love, showing intense gratitude for your forgiveness and mercy in my life.
I highly recommend this book that Kacee let me borrow. This passage in Luke reminds me of the message in Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great day it is to be studying God’s word and being blessed with a spiritual growth by it. I was amazed how Jesus went to Pharisee house for dinner, it’s one thing to go to dinner with your friends but it’s a whole different ballgame to go to dinner with the enemy. I believe Jesus had a great purpose lined out for that event way before it even happen, and according to a MacArthur sermon maybe He went there to evangelize the Pharisee. Why not? the scriptures before show us he came for publican and sinners and who greater needed Jesus but the one in the hopeless grip of RELIGION. Yikes….save me Lord!!!
Truly the woman who came there showed her great gratitude and love for Jesus when she broke the most valuable thing she owned an alabaster box of ointment. There are so many things to dive into in all these scriptures I could take a very long page for my thoughts but I will spare you today and tell you that John MacArthur has a sermon called the “The transformed sinner” that takes you inside of that room on that day and gives a greater explanation than I ever could, I encourage you listen to it today.
