Week 4_Tuesday

Good Morning Girls

Read Luke 12:13-21  SOAP  Luke 12:15, 20-21

"For one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."  That verse is actually quite comforting to me.  As women, it's easy to compare ourselves with others - always striving to obtain things.  The average American woman spends an enormous amount of money on things that don't meet a personal need, but instead fill an emotional void.  We don't have to be average!  Let us recognize the lies from the media and entertainment industry that drive us toward perfection.

What a blessing it would be to meet the needs of someone else, rather than "store up things" for ourselves.  Jesus was right when he said that it truly is more blessed to give than receive.  This is difficult for me since I have a natural bent toward self.  I pray that God will give me opportunities to be a blessing to others and use my assets to show His love.

  1. Riches of this world can be a destructive tool use in a person’s life. It can cause many to lie, cheat and steal thinking no one will ever know. There are many examples in the bible of people clinging to the things of this world and if they had a second chance had they would trade them in a heartbeat. Look at the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31) or the one that always struck me as the most tragic was Achan (Joshua 7) who stole treasures and hid them in the midst of his tent. My thought was, to show who? It wasn’t like he could take them out and show them to all his friends. Only when he was alone with his hidden sin was he able to look at it, isn’t that sad to think a man would risk losing all just to have something hid away in his life. Luke 8:17, “For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither anything hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.” I am afraid there are more Achans in the church than Lazarus. I pray for a renewal in the body of Christ and that as these last days grows darker that we as Christ lights would grow brighter.

Help me Lord to never cling to anything in this world tighter than I cling to you.
