Read Luke 13:31-35 SOAP Luke 13:34-35
Verse 24 makes me so sad - that Jesus desperately wanted to call Jerusalem his own and gather them under His wings, yet they rejected Him. Do you suppose this sentiment is still expressed by Christ with his rejectors today? I wonder how many times Jesus could have said that statement to me. He wanted to have a close relationship with me, but I would not.
One day, Christ's second coming will affirm his lordship to everyone. May it not take that to get us to follow Him - because then it's too late. I need to look forward to His presence, saying, "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!" Father, forgive me for willingly keeping you at a distance. Help me embrace the relationship you want to have with me.

ReplyDeleteHave you ever been extremely thirsty and you see a glass of water sitting on a table. You hastily grab it and drink it down, but it is warm and disgusting, and you spit it back out because of the horrible taste it has in your mouth. Well, this is how Jesus feels towards the person that becomes complacent in their service to Him. They are really not hot or cold but just warm enough for their spirit to barely be alive and beating. Neglecting the things they should do for the Kingdom and every day spending less and less time with Him. I have to ask myself how long I took in studying His word today or thinking how long do we spend in front of the mirror each day getting ready? Surely longer than the ten minutes we give Him.
I’m sure just as Jesus grieved over Jerusalem at that time He know grieves for the Church today who has become so commercialized and busy running from one thing to another. I pray that when the Lord returns (as He said would) that He will find faith on the earth in His body of believers. Forgive me Lord if I have ever been a part of grieving you as you were in our soap today I never want to reject you or ignore you for things of this world that will all to quickly pass away. I know when these scriptures comes to pass that Israel will weep for the Savior they have scorn open my eyes so I may see my own rejection of what you wish for me.
