Week 2_Tuesday

Good Morning Girls

Read Luke 10:8-16  SOAP Luke 10:8-9, 16

I think that personal pride often stands in the way of discipling.  We think that people will reject us or criticize us.  But Jesus tells us that those who reject us are really rejecting Him, as well as the One who sent Him.  The great commission is not about me or how it makes me feel when people reject the truth.  No matter how people make me feel, I am called to work in God's harvest.  Father, help me get beyond my own pride to share the truth from your Word.

  1. Good Morning Girls
Here are some of my thoughts that our soap brought up for me (I will try for the short version…lol)

In the Old Testament Israel was led by men whom God appointed called judges and they rule Israel through times of war and times of peace. God’s desire was for the people to live and conquer the land that he had promised them and He wanted them to prosper under His guidance. Samuel was a prophet and a judge for Israel but in 1 Samuel 8:4-7 we find where the people came to him and requested a king to reign over them and Samuel became very displeased with the people, but listen to what God’s response was to their request. 1 Samuel 8:7 “And the Lord said unto Samuel, hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them“.
Samuel was upset because he felt like the people were rejecting him, but all along they were rejecting God much like they did His son many years later. Even when Samuel told them of the hardship they would endure for having a king reign over them, as far as taking their daughters to work in the palace and yet they still cried, “Give us a king so we may be like other nations”. Now, before I say “oh those of those children of Israel, how can they be so dumb”. I had better make sure my life isn’t rejecting God in any form especially when I desire sin over what I know God wants for me. Maybe like when I am supposed to do good and I don’t do it, the bible calls that sin.

Help me Lord to follow you and not to desire any king over my life except You and just like You desired for the children of Israel to conquer the land allow me to conquer my sin and do good for Your kingdom.
