Week 5_Thursday

Good Morning Girls

Read Luke 13:22-30. SOAP Luke 13:24-27

What a convicting passage to those who think they are doing everything right.  Just as verse 26 illustrates, we can presently say, "But Lord, we were faithful to church, taught classes, and listened to Christian music in your name."  His response will still be the same - that He never knew us.  A relationship with Christ is far different from good behavior.  He wants us to know Him instead of know about Him.  Salvation must culminate in a fruitful, communicative relationship with Christ.  It should not be considered a one-time decision.

Father, help me know and love you, not just know about you.  Forgive my apathy about communing with you.  Reminds me of a great book we are teaching in our Sunday School class right now.  It addresses this issue of relationship specifically.

  1. For some reason, my iphone won't let me make comments anymore. I don't get on a PC often, thus the silence from my end.
To truly have a relationship with Christ is something that many in the world truly can't understand. It is real and amazing. I know that you can't base your faith on emotion, but to have a relationship with Jesus brings out, for me, a deep emotion. I can honestly say that to have a right relationship with Jesus is the deepest desire of my life. What joy and peace we can have because of it. Now, that is not to say that I always have the right attitude. I am thankful Jesus is patient and reigns me in, sometimes with a hard yank. How sad to go through life with a head knowledge of Jesus, without the peace and assurance we experience, then to be turned away because you never even knew him. It is unfathomable for me.
By the way, I just downloaded the suggested book to my kindle. Happy reading for me tonight. Thank you, Fawn.
