Week 6: Wednesday

Read Luke 22:31-38

SOAP Luke 22:31-32

The name Simon means = "God has heard," whereas Peter means = "Stone."  This passage is so touching, revealing the fact that Jesus prayed for Peter to be faithful.  After this terrible failure for Peter, he repents and lives out what Jesus predicted - he strengthens the faith of his brothers.  Pentecost, for one!  The omniscience of Christ is obvious, yet he still gives us the free will to make mistakes and learn in our faith journey.  I'm so grateful that Jesus prays for us still that our faith will not fail.

  1. Good Morning Girls

Verse 32 says that Jesus prayed for Peter that his faith would not fail him. Jesus does not love one over another and what He has done for Peter He has and will do for me. The key to whole verse is when Jesus said to Peter “when you returned to me”. Jesus knew Peter failure was coming and He didn't turn away disgusted, no He forgave him and prayed for him and loved him. We all mess up and we all sin, (gasp) it’s true, maybe not a continual path, but let’s be real at times it happens. Knowing I have a Savior who has already prayed for my benefit brings me great joy (John 17:20) and I am much like Peter in his humanness (examine you own self and see what results you come up with) and I want to be much like him in his service to Jesus. Each of us have a great future in store and I don’t want to stay in beaten down path of sin and it’s my opinion that the hardest person to forgive is ourselves and I must remember Jesus doesn't look at what I once was He looks at what I can be. I know He is pulling me forward to His kingdom by His great love and of all the things I don’t know in my limited life here is what I do. He is beautiful, He is Holy and He is love and He is forgiving, I am thankful for that knowledge above all other.
